Small Business Saturday
You know the holiday shopping season has arrived when the bargain hunters buckle up and hit the big box stores searching for Black Friday deals, or sit at home in their cozy chair looking through all the online sales from Cyber Monday. The holiday sandwich between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday (SBS) exists as a reminder for shoppers to visit independently-owned businesses around the neighborhoods for a unique, locally gift.
Founded by American Express in 2010, SBS has slowly become a holiday shopping tradition that uniting the communities and supporting all kinds of local businesses, from your favorite diner to the corner stores unique. According to CNBC, last year, holiday shoppers spent 16.9 billion dollars on Cyber Monday, while SBS saw a total of 12.9 billion dollars in sales from independently owned businesses. There is no doubt that participating in Small Business Saturday is a great way to drive online sales, boost year-end donations, or get shoppers into your business this holiday season. Even though SBS is right around the corner, here are three last-minute marketing campaigns to get ready for SBS for all the small, local businesses:
Create a surprise event for your customers.
If you have a brick and mortar business, you want your customers to feel special when they visit your store. Maybe host an in-store hot chocolate giveaway or team up with a local bakery for a holiday cookie tasting in your local store. Or let your online shoppers play some games with your business to win a prize when they check out.
Offer some kind of rewards for those who interact with your business on social media. You can offer a 15% off, free complimentary drinks or food, or a merchandise from your business for their next purchase. Check your Facebook Check-ins, Instagram Tags or Twitter Mentions .Choose some posts you like and slide into their DMs with a surprise offer. We sure it will drive your business sales even more.
Give your customers lightening sales or deals for a certain hour. These will create a sense of urgency and keep all of their eyes on your business! These deals cannot be like a regular deal, they gotta be SUPER AWESOME deals. Check out your inventory, see that items almost never go on sale, get the most anticipated throughout the years, and always appear in your customers’ wish list. When you give those items great deals, your customers will want them and they will be gone in just a few minutes.
Don’t forget to send out emails, announce your SBS campaign widely, or use the official hashtag for SBS #ShopSmall to alert your customers that your business will be participating SBS 2018.
