Ep 8 – Logo Design

#MilkPod Ep 8 – It’s All About the Logo!

Today’s episode was dedicated to logo design. Team Milk Street sat down and discussed all aspects of the logo; from where to begin through presenting to a client. Logo design is not as simple as handing a sketch to a graphic designer. Your logo is the centerpiece of your branding and finding the right logo for your business is a process. Ron started the conversation with a list of The 10 Best Logos Ever, and the team tried to determine what sets these logos apart from all the rest.

Although this is a clever logo design, it’s not a real company!

We found some really helpful articles, including Creative Bloq’s Logo Design 101, that give some basic guidelines when approaching the creation of a new logo. The overall consensus – keep it simple. We also had our Graphic Designer, Ryan Brennan on hand to answer some questions and walk us through his process of designing a logo.

Negative space is used in some of the most clever, most recognizable logos in the world. Honestly, did you notice the arrow inside the FedEx logo? Did you ever notice that the arrow in the Amazon.com logo points “from A to Z”? These clever little nuances in logo design help to solidify that brand. Twisted Sifter put together a list of 20 Clever Logos and Their Hidden Symbolism, and we had a great time discussing these on the show.
