Designing Brand Identity Takes More Than A Great Logo

Designing brand identity is hard work.

An effective brand can separate your business from the competition. But designing brand identity takes time and effort. It’s not something that happens overnight. That’s because your brand is more than your logo. It’s more than a sleek website and great promotional materials. It’s more than the products or services your business sells. Your brand is who you are. It’s your business’s higher purpose. And if your business is going to be successful, it’s the community you build around that higher purpose. Because at the end of the day a brand is defined by the way the public feels about your business.

Determining a Higher Purpose

Brand identity starts with a higher purpose. There will always be other people who perform the same services and/or sell the same products as your business. However no one provides services or sells products in the same way you do. That’s because no one is inspired by the same things that drive you. And herein lies your business’s higher purpose. To define your business’s higher purpose ask yourself why do what I do? The answer will your determine your higher purpose and guide your business for years to come.

Develop a Community of Believers

After you have a firmly established higher purpose it’s time to start developing a community that believes in your business as much as you. And rather you realize it or not, the way you approach your business has an influence on everyone else. Your passion and inspiration are contagious! And to take your higher purpose to the next level others have to believe with your amount of passion.  It all starts with your employees. Your staff is your first “community of believers” and their passion is as contagious as your own. Therefore make it your mission as a business owner to ensure your employees share your inspiration.

Build a Community Around Your Purpose

It’s not enough for you and your employees to believe in your higher purpose. For your business to thrive you must find a way to build a community around that higher purpose. You must magnify your brand to the public so they become as excited about your products and/or services as you are. This is accomplished by initiating a well researched marketing strategy designed specifically to amplify your higher purpose.
